Where it came from
The Eevee SWSH042 promo was released in early 2020 as part of the promotional lineup for the Sword & Shield era of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. It was distributed specifically as a participation bonus for events and through specific retail partnerships, serving as a gateway for players to engage with the new generation of Pokémon introduced in the Galar region.
The card features an illustration by Kouki Saitou, a long-standing artist for the franchise known for his soft, expressive style. Saitou designed this iteration to capture Eevee in a classic, curious pose, aiming to highlight the creature's adaptable nature. It was well-received by collectors for its clean composition and remains a recognizable piece from the transition into the eighth generation of card sets.
