Once during your turn (before your attack), if Electrode is your Active Pokémon, you may flip a coin. If heads, choose a Lightning Energy card from your discard pile and attach it to 1 of your Pokémon. This power can't be used if Electrode is affected by a Special Condition.
This attack's damage isn't affected by Weakness, Resistance, Poké-Powers, Poké-Bodies, or any other effects on the Defending Pokémon.

Where it came from
Released in 2003 as part of the Aquapolis expansion, this card represents a pivotal era in the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Produced by Wizards of the Coast, Aquapolis was the second set in the E-Card series, notable for integrating scannable dot-code strips on the side of the cards for use with the Nintendo e-Reader peripheral. This period marked the end of the Wizards of the Coast tenure, making the set a significant bridge between the early hobbyist years and the subsequent transition of the franchise to The Pokémon Company International.
The artwork for this specific Electrode card was rendered by Kouichi Ooyama, a frequent illustrator for the early TCG. Ooyama's style during this era often emphasized bold, dynamic character depictions that contrasted with the more serene or landscape-focused illustrations found in other sets. The design was received by players for its utility in gameplay, specifically the 'Energy Surge' ability, which allowed for rapid acceleration of Lightning energy at the cost of the player's own Pokémon, reflecting the volatile, explosive nature of the character itself.
