Fighting Cube 01

Fighting Cube 01 was released in the Aquapolis expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, which debuted in Japan in late 2001 and North America in early 2003. As one of the final sets produced by Wizards of the Coast for the English market, Aquapolis is recognized for its unique e-Card technology, which allowed cards to be scanned by a Game Boy Advance e-Reader peripheral to unlock mini-games or data. The set is highly regarded by collectors today for its distinctive frame design, which pushed the card art toward the edges to maximize visual impact.

The artwork for this trainer card was created by Keiji Kinebuchi, a veteran illustrator whose clean, bold style was a staple of the early Pokémon TCG era. Fighting Cube 01 belongs to a series of experimental trainer cards from the e-Card era that utilized the peripheral hardware's capabilities to provide unique mechanical interactions.
