Released in 2003 as part of the Aquapolis expansion, this card represents the final major release of the e-Card Series for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Developed by Wizards of the Coast in collaboration with Creatures Inc., the set was designed to integrate with the Nintendo Game Boy Advance e-Reader peripheral. This allowed players to scan the dot-code strips on the side of the cards to unlock special Pokédex entries, mini-games, and supplemental game data, marking a brief but ambitious period where physical cards served as functional hardware accessories.

The artistic direction for Aquapolis emphasized a distinct, cleaner aesthetic compared to earlier sets, often featuring intricate, varied art styles from Japanese illustrators that moved away from the standardized look of the base sets. The design of the Forest Guardian card captures the creature within a serene natural landscape, consistent with the set's focus on environment-themed illustrations. While the e-Reader feature saw limited long-term adoption, the Aquapolis set remains highly regarded among collectors for its sophisticated card frame design and the scarcity of its print run, which came near the end of the Wizards of the Coast licensing era.
