Great Ball

The Great Ball card from the EX Power Keepers set was released in early 2007 as part of the final expansion for the EX series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This set was designed to bridge the transition between the older EX-era mechanics and the upcoming Diamond & Pearl generation, focusing on powerful Trainer cards and revisited Pokémon-ex variants. As an uncommon Trainer card, Great Ball was intended to provide players with a functional, mid-game utility tool for searching their deck, reflecting the set's goal of maintaining strategic depth during a period of significant systemic change in the game.

The card features the standard, functional design language characteristic of the late EX series, prioritizing clarity for competitive play. Its illustration typically depicts the signature blue and white Great Ball device, serving as a staple utility card that allowed players to look at the top seven cards of their deck and add one Pokémon found there to their hand. While it was not a centerpiece of collection aesthetic like the holographic cards of the era, it remains a recognized artifact from a pivotal era of the game’s competitive history.
