Energy Removal 2

Energy Removal 2 was released in the Power Keepers expansion in 2007, marking the final set of the EX series era. This card functioned as a reprint of the classic Trainer card originally seen in the Neo Genesis set, designed to manage the game state by forcing players to discard Energy cards from their active Pokémon. It served as a tactical tool to disrupt an opponent's momentum, fitting into a meta-game that emphasized careful resource management during the late stage of the EX generation.

The card features artwork by Ryo Ueda, whose style during this period leaned into the clean, digital aesthetic characteristic of the mid-2000s Pokémon TCG. As an uncommon card, it was widely accessible to players who utilized disruption-heavy decks, providing a strategic bridge between the older mechanics of the Neo era and the more complex abilities introduced in the Power Keepers set. While not as iconic as some chase cards of the era, it remains a notable piece of history for collectors documenting the transition between the EX and Diamond & Pearl eras.
