What it does

30 HPBaby
Pokémon PowerGaze

Once during your turn (before your attack), choose 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon that has a Pokémon Power. That power stops working until the end of this turn. This effect ends if that Pokémon leaves the Bench.

If this Baby Pokémon is your Active Pokémon and your opponent announces an attack, your opponent flips a coin (before doing anything else). If tails, your opponent's turn ends.

It has a very soft body. If it starts to roll, it will bounce all over and be impossible to stop.

Provenance

Where it came from

The Igglybuff card was released as part of the Neo Discovery expansion, which debuted in Japan in 2000 and arrived in North American markets in 2001. This set was the second installment in the Neo series, designed to introduce the second generation of Pokémon from the Johto region, specifically featuring the introduction of Baby Pokémon mechanics to the trading card game.

The artwork for this card was created by artist Kagemaru Himeno, a prominent illustrator in the early years of the franchise. Himeno focused on capturing the whimsical and delicate nature of Igglybuff, utilizing a soft color palette that aligned with the card's status as a 'Baby' Pokémon. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players for its 'Baby Rule' ability, which introduced a unique defensive mechanic that required opponents to flip a coin before attacking.
