Provenance

Where it came from

Igglybuff 67/144 was released in 2003 as part of the Skyridge expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This set was notable for being the final release produced by Wizards of the Coast before Nintendo and The Pokémon Company International assumed direct control of the game. Representing the final entry in the E-Card Series, the set was designed to integrate with the Nintendo GameCube's Game Boy Player and the e-Reader peripheral, which allowed players to scan cards to unlock additional content in compatible video games.

The artwork for this card was created by Midori Harada, a prolific illustrator for the series known for her soft, expressive watercolor style. Harada's design focuses on the playful, rotund nature of the baby Pokémon, maintaining the consistent aesthetic of the E-Card era which emphasized clean, character-focused portraits surrounded by the technical data fields required for e-Reader compatibility. While common in rarity, the card is frequently sought by collectors as a representative example of the closing chapter of the Wizards of the Coast era.
