Iron Treads ex

The Iron Treads ex card (073/215) was released in 2023 as part of the Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos series. This card was specifically included in the Iron Treads ex Box, which served as a bridge product for collectors to obtain specific Paradox Pokémon introduced in the ninth generation of the video games. The design features Iron Treads, a futuristic Steel/Ground-type Paradox Pokémon resembling a robotic Great Tusk, rendered in the high-gloss, full-art style characteristic of the ex-mechanic cards introduced in the Scarlet & Violet expansion cycle.

The card was illustrated by 5ban Graphics, a studio frequently commissioned by The Pokémon Company for digital, high-fidelity card renders. Their design aesthetic emphasizes metallic textures and sharp, aggressive lines to reflect the mechanical, 'Future' theme inherent to the Pokémon's lore. Upon its release, it was received as a functional addition to competitive play due to its Iron Tread's 'Repoussé' ability, which provides a defensive advantage, though its status as a promo kept it largely as a staple for deck-builders rather than a high-end rarity target for traditional collectors.
