Kommo-o

The Kommo-o card, numbered 143/128, was released as part of the specialized 30th Anniversary celebration subset within the Scarlet & Violet era of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This set was designed to honor three decades of the franchise, featuring select Pokémon rendered in the Illustration Rare style, which prioritizes expressive, artistic scenes over traditional static poses. The set reflects the modern era's focus on high-fidelity, creative artwork that emphasizes the unique habitat and personality of each creature.

This particular card features artwork by an illustrator who focuses on dynamic, cinematic compositions, capturing Kommo-o amidst its natural environment. The card is categorized as an Illustration Rare, a rarity tier introduced in the modern series to highlight the collaboration between the Trading Card Game and prominent digital artists. Upon its release, it was well-received by collectors who prioritize the narrative quality of the art, representing a shift toward treating Pokémon cards as individual pieces of collectible fine art rather than purely functional game components.
