Where it came from
M Manectric-EX, card number 24/119, was released in the Phantom Forces expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game in November 2014. As part of the XY series, the set was designed to introduce the Mega Evolution mechanic to the card game, reflecting the central gameplay features of the Pokémon X and Y video games. This card specifically depicts the Mega Evolved form of the electric-type Pokémon Manectric, featuring the stylized, high-contrast holographic foiling characteristic of the era's Ultra Rare cards.
The artwork for this card was created by illustrator 5ban Graphics, a design collective frequently commissioned by The Pokémon Company during this period to render 3D-modeled Pokémon in dynamic poses. The aesthetic focuses on a clean, digital look intended to emphasize the power and speed of Mega Manectric. Upon release, the card became a staple in competitive play due to its 'Turbo Bolt' attack, which allowed players to accelerate energy onto their benched Pokémon, making it a highly sought-after utility card within the tournament meta of the time.
