Provenance

Where it came from

Mysterious Treasure was introduced in the Pokémon Trading Card Game during the Forbidden Light expansion, which launched in early 2018. The card is designed as an Item card that allows players to search their deck for a Dragon or Psychic-type Pokémon, discarding another card to complete the effect. This mechanic was specifically tailored to support the expansion's focus on powerful Dragon and Psychic-type archetypes, providing a consistent engine for decks relying on those specific typings.

The card features artwork by Toyste Beach, an illustrator known for their clean, digital aesthetic within the Pokémon TCG. The illustration captures the essence of an ancient, enchanted artifact, aligning with the mystical themes of the Forbidden Light set. Upon its release, it became a staple in competitive play due to its efficiency in thinning the deck and ensuring setup for primary attackers, earning it a reputation as an essential utility card during its legal tenure in the Standard format.
