Scorbunny

The Scorbunny card, numbered SWSH071, was released in 2020 as part of the Pokémon Trading Card Game's Sword & Shield Black Star Promos series. This promotional release was designed to coincide with the introduction of the Galar region generation, featuring the energetic Fire-type starter Pokémon as it appeared in the eighth generation of video games. It was primarily distributed as a promotional insert within specific retail merchandise, such as blister packs, to celebrate the expansion of the franchise into new territories and aesthetics.

The artwork for this card captures the spirited nature of Scorbunny, emphasizing its dynamic movement and signature orange and white color palette. The illustration follows the established visual language of the Sword & Shield era, which favored clean lines and bright, high-energy compositions meant to appeal to both younger players and dedicated collectors. Upon its release, it became a staple inclusion for fans looking to complete their Galar starter collections, serving as an accessible entry point for those beginning their journey in the modern era of the trading card game.
