Shinx

The Shinx card 44/122 was released in early 2016 as part of the Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion titled BREAKpoint. This set was designed to introduce the 'BREAK Evolution' mechanic, a game-play feature where cards were rotated ninety degrees to stack upon a previous evolution stage, visually distinguishing them with a gold-etched, landscape design. As a common card, this Shinx serves as a foundational element of the set, intended to represent the early-stage progression of the character within the competitive card meta of the time.

The illustration for this specific entry was rendered by artist Mizue, whose style often emphasizes the playful and energetic nature of Pokémon in naturalistic settings. The artwork captures Shinx in a dynamic pose, consistent with the thematic focus of the XY series era, which aimed to bridge the gap between classic card aesthetics and the more modern, digital-forward art direction that began to dominate the series during this period. Like many commons from this era, the card was widely distributed in booster packs and theme decks, becoming a staple for players building decks around electric-type synergy.
