Provenance

Where it came from

Released in the Mysterious Treasures expansion in 2007, the Snover card (101/123) was part of the Diamond & Pearl era of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This set introduced players to many Generation IV Pokémon, bridging the gap between the portable console games and the tabletop card experience. As a Common rarity card, it was designed to be easily accessible to players building decks rather than acting as a high-value collector's piece.

The artwork for this card was created by Kouki Saitou, an illustrator known for his soft, watercolor-inspired approach to Pokémon character design. Saitou focused on emphasizing Snover's dual Grass and Ice typing by depicting the creature in a wintry, mountainous landscape. The design was received as a straightforward, functional entry in the set, aimed at providing players with a balanced Grass-type option for early-game strategies.
