Starmie

The Pokémon Rumble card set was released in 2009 as a promotional collaboration tied to the launch of the WiiWare title, Pokémon Rumble. Unlike the standard Trading Card Game releases, these cards were specifically designed to mimic the aesthetic of the game's toy-like, simplified character models. The set was distributed through an exclusive promotion at Pokémon Center stores in Japan and later through the vending machines found within those retail locations, making the cards a unique bridge between the digital game's art style and physical collecting.

The Starmie card, numbered 5/16, features a distinct graphical style that strips away the complex shading of traditional TCG artwork in favor of the clean, rounded lines of the Rumble toy aesthetic. The illustration reflects the design philosophy of the game's developers, who sought to translate the iconic pocket monsters into a simplified, accessible form for the arcade-style combat experience. Within the collecting community, the set is highly regarded for its uniformity and its direct tie to the console game, marking a rare moment where a spin-off title influenced the visual language of the card game.
