Tornadus-EX

Released in the 2013 Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion Plasma Freeze, Tornadus-EX features the Legendary Pokémon from the Unova region. This set was notable for introducing the Team Plasma aesthetic to the TCG, characterized by metallic blue borders and distinctive card designs that reflected the presence of the villainous organization in the Black 2 and White 2 video games. The EX mechanic, reintroduced during the Black & White Series, allowed for high-powered Pokémon with increased HP and powerful attacks, balancing their strength with the disadvantage of granting the opponent two prize cards upon being knocked out.

The 98/116 variant of Tornadus-EX is a full-art ultra-rare card, designed with an etched, textured foil surface that differentiates it from the standard Rare Holo EX version. The artwork depicts Tornadus in its Incarnate Forme, utilizing dynamic lines and a vibrant color palette typical of the era's focus on high-impact visual storytelling. It was designed to appeal to both competitive players who sought the card's utility in Colorless-type decks and collectors who valued the intricate, full-bleed illustration style that had become a hallmark of chase cards in modern sets.
