Where it came from
The Trevor card, numbered XY33 in the XY Black Star Promos set, was released in late 2014 as part of the Pokémon Trading Card Game's XY era. It was distributed specifically as a promotional item included within the Pokémon TCG: XY—Phantom Forces Collector's Chest, a bundled product designed to provide players with an assortment of booster packs and exclusive content.
The card features the character Trevor, a young trainer introduced in the Pokémon X and Y video games, depicted in an illustration by Ken Sugimori. Sugimori, the long-time lead designer and art director for the franchise, aimed to capture the character's inquisitive and studious personality, consistent with his role in the Kalos region narrative. As a Trainer card, it was designed for gameplay utility, allowing players to search their decks for cards, and was received by the community as a standard but collectible piece of regional character lore.
