Tsareena ex

Tsareena ex (220/182) was released in 2023 as part of the Scarlet & Violet—Paradox Rift expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This specific card is a Special Illustration Rare, a rarity tier introduced in the Scarlet & Violet era to showcase highly detailed, full-art depictions of Pokémon that prioritize artistic expression over traditional card templates. The card features artwork by illustrator Gemi, who chose to emphasize the regal and intimidating nature of the Grass-type Pokémon Tsareena through a vibrant, expressive style that departs from the standard action-oriented imagery often found in the hobby.

The Paradox Rift set is notable for its thematic focus on Paradox Pokémon from the distant past and future, alongside a selection of cards that showcase refined, painterly aesthetics. As an Ultra Rare variant, this card was designed as a chase item for collectors who value unique character portraiture. Upon its release, it was well-received by the community for its distinct departure from typical holographic patterns, leaning into a more atmospheric, illustrative quality that highlights the shift toward more creative, high-fidelity card designs within modern Pokémon sets.
