Where it came from
The Twins card was released in 2010 as part of the HS—Triumphant expansion, the final set in the HeartGold & SoulSilver Series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This set was designed to bridge the transition between the legacy of the Johto region and the evolving mechanics of the game, featuring cards that often focused on iconic trainer duos and legendary Pokémon encounters that defined that era of gameplay.
The artwork for this card was created by artist Ken Sugimori, whose distinctive illustrative style has defined the visual identity of the Pokémon franchise since its inception. The design captures the mysterious nature of the Twins characters, who are traditionally encountered in the games as a double-battle pair, emphasizing the tactical synergy that players were encouraged to utilize during the competitive TCG environment of the late 2000s.
