Provenance

Where it came from

This vinyl compilation was produced in 1975 under the Cerro Cora label as a ceremonial tribute to Alfredo Stroessner, the military dictator who governed Paraguay for 35 years. Released to commemorate his regime, the record serves as a tangible artifact of the state-sponsored propaganda efforts utilized to solidify the cult of personality surrounding the general. Its title, which translates to '21 Years of Peace and Work,' reflects the official rhetoric of the era, framing his authoritarian rule as a period of national stability and development.

The album features a selection of Paraguayan folk musicians performing songs intended to glorify the regime, aligning with the cultural policies of the period that sought to harness traditional music for nationalist messaging. Because the record was commissioned as a political gesture of loyalty rather than a commercial production, it lacks formal cataloging typical of standard industry releases. It remains a historical curiosity that highlights the intersection of folk artistry and the political mandates of the Cold War-era dictatorships in South America.
