Where it came from
Released under the Ars Lamina label, 21/7 Другата Страна На Изборот represents a significant entry in the discography of the Macedonian hip-hop artist Toni Zen. The album was conceived as a thematic exploration of personal and societal choices, reflecting the artist's evolution within the Balkan urban music scene. It captures a specific moment in the regional transition toward more introspective and narrative-driven rap, aligning with the label's commitment to promoting unconventional contemporary sounds.
The design of this release prioritizes a stark, minimalist aesthetic intended to mirror the album's title, which translates to The Other Side of the Choice. By eschewing typical mainstream visual tropes for a more abstract graphic approach, the creative team aimed to emphasize the gravity of the lyrical content. Upon its release, the project was noted by followers of the Macedonian underground for its production quality and the deliberate shift in tone compared to the artist’s earlier commercial work.
