A Good Morning Story

A Good Morning Story was released in 2010 by Claremont 56, a label celebrated for its curated approach to balearic and cosmic electronic music. The album serves as a significant archival release for Holger Czukay, the former bassist and founding member of the influential krautrock band Can. This compilation features tracks originally recorded during the 1980s, showcasing Czukay's pioneering use of early sampling techniques and shortwave radio manipulation, which were hallmarks of his solo work following his departure from Can.

The project was compiled to bridge the gap between Czukay’s experimental legacy and the contemporary dance-music scene that found inspiration in his rhythmic, off-kilter approach to production. By selecting tracks that emphasized mood and texture, the label aimed to present a cohesive listening experience that felt like a continuous, surreal morning broadcast. The release was well-received by critics and fans of electronic music history, providing a cleaned-up, definitive presentation of these intricate, sample-heavy compositions that had previously been difficult to source.
