Where it came from
The Acid X-Mas EP was released in 1997 by the influential Miami-based label StreetBeat Records. This compilation emerged during a period when the label was a cornerstone for the burgeoning acid house and rave scenes in Florida, serving as a seasonal project that injected the abrasive, synthesizer-heavy aesthetic of the era into familiar holiday themes.
The design and curation reflected the underground DIY ethos of late-nineties rave culture, prioritizing high-energy, distorted beats over traditional festive sentiment. It was received as a niche novelty within the electronic dance music community, functioning primarily as a collector's curiosity for those deeply embedded in the specific soundscape of the 1990s Florida breakbeat and acid scenes.
