Where it came from
Addictocrate, released in 2023 under the Sony Music label, serves as the second studio album by Belgian singer-songwriter Loïc Nottet. Following the success of his debut and various multimedia projects, this record marks a thematic shift toward more introspective and cinematic storytelling. It was crafted during a period of artistic refinement for Nottet, who aimed to integrate a darker, more theatrical pop sound that mirrors his background in dance and visual performance.
The album's design and conceptual direction reflect Nottet's penchant for immersive aesthetics, often drawing inspiration from classic literature and psychological narratives. As a physical release, the vinyl edition provides a tangible window into his meticulous creative process, where the visual art serves as a companion to the auditory experience. The record was generally received as a maturation of his musical identity, emphasizing his ability to blend pop sensibilities with orchestral and moody production elements.
