Bespeelt het Van Den Heuvel-orgel in de Hervormde Dorpskerk te Strijen

Released in 1975 under the BmG label, this recording showcases the organist Dirk Jansz. Zwart performing at the Hervormde Dorpskerk in Strijen. The record highlights the acoustic capabilities of the historic Van Den Heuvel organ, an instrument significant to the musical heritage of the Dutch Reformed Church. Such recordings were often produced during this period to document the sounds of local heritage instruments for a specialized audience of organ enthusiasts and regional church members.

Dirk Jansz. Zwart was a noted figure in the Dutch organ community, known for his interpretation of both classical and ecclesiastical repertoire. The production aims to capture the authentic, resonant space of the Strijen church, emphasizing a traditional aesthetic that favors clarity and the specific tonal registers of the Van Den Heuvel instrument. Like many releases on the BmG label during the 1970s, the intent was to preserve the legacy of regional liturgical organ playing, a niche yet dedicated field of recorded classical music.
