Bim Bom Bey / Un Train Bleu Dans La Nuit / Le Gitan Et La Fille / Ce Serait Dommage

Released in 1960 on the G.E.M. label, this EP represents a classic example of the French chanson and light orchestral arrangements prevalent in the post-war era. The record features the vocal stylings of Babette Bruneau accompanied by Jeff Higginbothom and his ensemble, capturing the mid-century European pop aesthetic characterized by romantic themes and sophisticated, rhythmic instrumentation.

The recording emerged during a period when the French music industry was experimenting with diverse international influences, often blending traditional chanson with light jazz or exotic orchestral textures. While little specific biographical detail exists regarding the design process for this particular cover, its minimalist layout and reliance on studio-centered production reflect the standard industry practices for boutique French labels of the late fifties and early sixties, which prioritized the singer's personality and the ensemble's versatility.
