Where it came from
Released in 1972 on the Italian label Tickle, this record features a collection of tracks credited to the collective pseudonym Chicco, Chicca, Chicchi, Eli, Leti & Peo. The project emerged during a period of experimentation in Italian children's music and novelty pop, where labels often employed colorful, whimsical personas to engage young audiences through repetitive, rhythmic wordplay.
The title and track list, focusing on permutations of vowel-based nonsense sounds, reflect the influence of 'nonsense song' traditions intended for educational or playful nursery environments. As a niche production on a minor independent label, the record served as a piece of lighthearted entertainment, likely designed to leverage the simple, catchy nature of phonetics to capture the attention of toddlers and young children.
