Body Bumpin' Yippie-Yi-Yo

Body Bumpin' Yippie-Yi-Yo was released in 1998 as a promotional 12-inch single through A&M Records to support the debut studio album by the R&B group Public Announcement. The group, which gained prominence as R. Kelly’s backing vocalists before establishing themselves as an independent act, sought to capture the upbeat, club-oriented sound that dominated late-nineties urban radio. The track became one of their signature songs, balancing smooth vocal harmonies with a production style characteristic of the era's transition from traditional soul to polished contemporary R&B.

The record was pressed as a DJ-focused release, cataloged as AMPM DJ129, designed primarily for radio play and club circulation. Its aesthetic reflects the functional, utilitarian design common to late-nineties promotional vinyl, prioritizing clarity of the tracklist and label identification. Upon release, the single was well-received within the R&B community, helping the group secure a firm foothold on the Billboard charts and cementing their reputation as a key presence in the evolving R&B landscape of the time.
