Brooklyn Bridge / Zig-Zag Twist

Released in 1961 on the Fraternity Records label, Brooklyn Bridge / Zig-Zag Twist represents an early moment in the career of country music singer Bobby Bare. During this period, Bare was navigating the shift between rockabilly influences and the country-pop sound that would eventually define his long-standing career. This single was produced during his time working with Fraternity Records in Cincinnati, a label known for fostering regional talent before many artists moved to the major hubs of Nashville or Los Angeles.

The record captures the stylistic diversity Bare experimented with in his early years, balancing a narrative-driven A-side with the more rhythm-focused, dance-oriented B-side. As a relatively early catalog entry in his discography, the design and production reflect the modest, straightforward aesthetic typical of mid-century independent labels. While it did not reach the commercial heights of his later hits like Detroit City, the release serves as a meaningful historical document for collectors interested in the evolution of Bare's vocal style and his formative professional years.
