Budy Bye/ Badder Than Broadway

This 12-inch vinyl release highlights the prolific output of the late 1980s dancehall scene, bringing together two titans of the genre, Johnny Osbourne and Barrington Levy. Produced for the Beat Junkie Sound label, the record serves as a showcase for the digital rhythm revolution that transformed Jamaican music during this era, moving away from traditional live instrumentation toward the crisp, synthetic sounds of the 'Sleng Teng' influence.

The tracks represent the competitive spirit of sound system culture, where vocalists frequently paired their signature styles against sparse, driving beats to command the dancehall. While the record lacks a formal catalog number—a common occurrence for independent pressings of the time—it remains a sought-after piece for enthusiasts of the transitional period between roots reggae and the high-energy dancehall sound that would go on to dominate global charts in the following decades.
