Bumba Meu Boi de Rampa Cantam Sabico - Cambraia - Régis (Humberto De Campos - MA)

The Bumba Meu Boi de Rampa Cantam Sabico is a 1986 vinyl recording capturing the vibrant tradition of the Bumba Meu Boi festival in Humberto de Campos, Maranhão. This folk performance art, recognized as part of Brazil's cultural heritage, blends music, dance, and theater, typically centered around the mythical resurrection of a bull. As a local, self-published release on the BBR label, this record serves as a primary historical document for the regional variations of the Sotaque de Rampa style, which is characterized by its distinct percussive instrumentation and rhythmic complexity.

The album features the performance of the group Bumba Meu Boi de Rampa, led by figures like Sabico and Cambraia. These recordings were intended to preserve the ephemeral energy of the local festival season, providing a permanent reference for the vocal melodies and dance arrangements unique to their specific community. Because the record was produced independently without a major commercial label, it reflects an authentic, grassroots effort to archive local folklore and ensure that the traditional songs, or toadas, were disseminated among the people of Maranhão.
