Büyük Balık Küçük Balığı Yutar / Gel Beri Yar Gel Beri

Released under the Hülya Plak label in the 1970s, this 45-RPM single features Bedia Akartürk, a cornerstone figure in Turkish folk music, or Türk Halk Müziği. The record captures a period in the mid-twentieth century when Anatolian folk traditions were being widely distributed through the burgeoning Turkish recording industry, bringing regional village songs and authentic provincial styles into the urban living rooms of a modernizing nation.

Bedia Akartürk, known for her powerful vocal technique and her commitment to preserving the authentic regional melodies of Izmir and the Aegean, recorded these tracks to highlight the narrative depth of traditional Turkish folk ballads. The design of Hülya Plak releases from this era typically utilized minimalist, functional aesthetics to frame the artist's portrait, focusing the listener’s attention on the cultural significance of the performance rather than elaborate cover art. The record remains a valued artifact among ethnomusicologists and collectors of Turkish vinyl for its preservation of Akartürk's signature emotive performance style.
