Where it came from
Das Fest Unserer Zeit was released in 1978 by the independent label pläne as a documentation of the UZ-Volksfest, a recurring political and cultural festival organized by the German Communist Party (DKP) and its newspaper, Unsere Zeit. The label pläne was well-regarded for its commitment to political music and social commentary, serving as a platform for left-leaning artists during the era of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The album serves as a sonic time capsule of the late 1970s West German political climate, featuring various musicians who performed at the festival. The collection was designed to reflect the communal spirit and ideological focus of the event, capturing the intersection of protest music and grassroots organizing. It remains a piece of historical interest for those studying the influence of radical political movements on German independent music production during the late 20th century.
