Where it came from
Released in 1992 on the independent label Xpression Records, this 12-inch vinyl single represents a niche moment in the early 1990s dance and club music scene. Cataloged as SAVE 005, the record features contributions from the groups Motivation and Raw State. It emerged during a period of rapid experimentation in electronic dance music, where small, independent labels often served as the primary conduit for underground producers to distribute their work to local DJs and club venues.
The record reflects the aesthetic trends of the early 90s, characterized by sample-heavy production and the influence of burgeoning rave and house subgenres. Like many releases from that era's underground dance circuit, its design and distribution were utilitarian, focused on providing playable tracks for club sets rather than broad commercial appeal. It remains a testament to the prolific and often anonymous output of independent dance labels that defined the soundscapes of the time.
