Dream Again

Dream Again was released in 2010 on the Claremont 56 label, a project founded by Paul Murphy. The release served as a bridge between the pioneering experimental work of Holger Czukay, best known as a founding member of the German krautrock band Can, and the contemporary Balearic and downtempo scene championed by the label. The record reflects Czukay’s long-standing interest in multi-layered tape editing and global musical textures, presenting a surreal, hypnotic aesthetic that favored atmosphere over traditional pop structure.

The design of the release emphasizes the organic and slightly eccentric nature of Czukay's later solo career, reflecting an era where his legacy as an avant-garde sound-collagist was being rediscovered by a new generation of electronic producers. The work was received by critics as a testament to his enduring creativity, illustrating his ability to manipulate samples and vocal fragments into a cohesive, dreamlike tapestry that remained true to his experimental roots while finding a comfortable home in the modern independent electronic landscape.
