Drumule

Released in 2012 on the Berlin-based Freaksound label, Drumule represents a specific moment in the city's electronic music scene where experimental techno and rhythm-focused house converged. As the fifth catalog entry for the label, the record was crafted by Mick Thammer and Holger Brauns, who were part of a wider collective associated with the Freaksound imprint. The track was produced during a period of experimentation within minimal techno, aiming to deconstruct traditional percussion patterns into something more abstract and percussive.

The design of the release reflects the aesthetic sensibilities of the Freaksound label, which often favored minimalist, industrial-inspired visual themes to mirror the audio content. By focusing on layered rhythmic textures and stripped-back production, Thammer and Brauns sought to create a soundscape that functioned as a functional tool for club DJs while maintaining an experimental edge. It was generally received as a niche entry within the broader European underground circuit, appreciated primarily by enthusiasts of the label's distinct, stripped-back sonic signature.
