Where it came from
Released in 2024 on the Frankfurt-based label Running Back, this 12-inch record serves as a contemporary tribute to the boogie and disco sounds of the late 1970s and early 1980s. The release features editorial work by Gerd Janson, the label's founder, alongside producer Enzo Elia. These edits breathe new life into the original Master Plan tracks, preserving the vintage rhythmic drive while updating the production fidelity for modern dance floors.
The project sits within Running Back's 'Special Series' imprint, which focuses on reissuing or reinterpreting rare disco and funk gems. The design aesthetic follows the label's signature minimalist approach, prioritizing functionality and clear typography to let the music define the identity of the release. It was received by the electronic music community as a respectful and effective tool for DJs who favor the intersection of classic disco sensibilities and high-quality contemporary house production.
