Where it came from
Released under the Odeon Pops label, this recording features the popular ventriloquism act of Miliu and the famous Spanish ventriloquist Josep Miret Sans, known professionally as Toresky. These recordings were part of a mid-20th-century tradition in Spain of producing children's spoken-word and comedy records, which sought to bring the intimacy and humor of radio variety shows and stage performances into the family living room.
The content follows the character Emilio, a recurring figure in the duo's sketches, navigating relatable childhood scenarios like school examinations and wearing his signature cap. The production reflects the mid-century Spanish light entertainment style, characterized by exaggerated vocal delivery and slapstick humor, which resonated widely with audiences of that era before the advent of widespread television ownership.
