Where it came from
Released in 1988 under the VM Records label, Es Wird Weihnachten Werden features the Singkreis Klagenfurt-Wörthersee under the direction of Herwig Wiener. This collection represents the tradition of Austrian choral arrangements, capturing a specific regional approach to Alpine Christmas music that emphasizes vocal harmony and communal holiday spirit within the Carinthian musical landscape.
The album was produced during a period when VM Records was a significant curator of traditional Austrian folk and choral music, aiming to preserve local festive customs for a wider audience. The design and choral arrangements prioritize the authentic, slightly melancholic yet hopeful tone of central European Advent celebrations, reflecting the disciplined but emotive style favored by Wiener during his tenure with the choir.
