Halali / Dornröschen

Released in 1983 on the Weryton label, the single Halali / Dornröschen represents a unique entry in the early 1980s German electronic and synth-pop scene. The artist, Zara-Thustra, was a project centered around the performer and songwriter Zara, whose work often explored theatrical, experimental pop arrangements characteristic of the Munich music scene during that era. The record reflects the period's fascination with synthesized textures and catchy, dark-toned melodic structures.

Weryton was a notable studio and label environment in Munich, founded by producers who were instrumental in shaping the German pop sound of the decade. The production design for this release leans into the moody, stylized aesthetic favored by European independent labels at the time. While the record achieved limited mainstream penetration, it has since become a sought-after artifact among collectors of rare German synth-pop and electronic curiosities for its distinct production quality and its representation of the underground musical landscape of the early eighties.
