Where it came from
Holger Danske was released in 2019 by The Old Firm Casuals, an American street punk band co-founded by Lars Frederiksen of Rancid. The album represents the band's matured sound, blending traditional Oi! sensibilities with heavy metal influences and thematic explorations of historical and societal struggle. It was produced during a period of prolific activity for the band, aiming to capture the raw energy of their live performances while refining their studio production.
The record was issued by the German independent label Demons Run Amok Entertainment, which specializes in supporting international hardcore and punk acts. The design and presentation reflect the aesthetic expectations of the contemporary street punk scene, emphasizing gritty, direct visuals that align with the band's aggressive and working-class-oriented lyrical content. Upon release, it was well-received within the subculture for its technical progression and consistent adherence to the group's established sonic identity.
