Holger Danske

Holger Danske was released in 2019 by the street punk band The Old Firm Casuals, a group co-founded by Lars Frederiksen of Rancid. The album serves as the band's second full-length studio effort and was released through the independent label Pirates Press Records, which maintains a strong reputation for supporting DIY and vinyl-centric punk music. The thematic content of the record draws heavily on themes of working-class struggle, personal loyalty, and historical folklore, with the title itself referencing the legendary Danish figure who is prophesied to awaken when the country is in grave danger.

The album's artwork and sonic direction reflect the band’s commitment to the classic oi! and street punk aesthetic, emphasizing raw, anthem-like songwriting that prioritizes high-energy delivery. Critics and listeners within the underground punk scene generally received the project as a continuation of the band's established sound, noting its tight production and direct, uncompromising lyricism. The record stands as a definitive document of the band's later catalog, showcasing their evolution while maintaining the stylistic roots that define their discography.
