Holger Danske

Holger Danske was released in 2019 by The Old Firm Casuals, an American street punk band co-founded by Lars Frederiksen of Rancid. The album, released through Pirates Press Records, emerged as a follow-up to the band's earlier output and reflects their characteristic blend of Oi! influence, melodic punk, and gritty, working-class lyrical themes. The title and titular track draw inspiration from the figure of Holger Danske, a legendary knight in Danish mythology who is said to sleep beneath Kronborg Castle, only to awaken when Denmark faces its greatest peril.

The album's design and aesthetic identity align with the band's commitment to the DIY ethic and traditional punk sensibilities championed by the Pirates Press label. The production captures the raw, energetic performance style the band was known for during their tenure. Upon its release, it was well-received by the street punk community, who appreciated the record's thematic focus on cultural heritage and the band's continuation of the classic punk sound they had cultivated since forming in 2010.
