I Just Want To Make Love To You / La-La-La-Lies

Released in 1966 by RCA Victor under catalog number FAS 749, this single captures The Lee Kings during the height of the Swedish beat group movement. The band, known for their energetic interpretation of British Invasion sounds and R&B, recorded these tracks to bridge the gap between their live club appeal and the growing demand for local beat music in Scandinavia. The A-side features a cover of the blues standard originally popularized by Etta James, while the flip side, La-La-La-Lies, showcases the group's proficiency with the jangly, guitar-driven pop style that defined the era.

The production reflects the standard studio practices of the mid-1960s RCA sessions in Sweden, prioritizing a raw, direct sound meant to replicate the intensity of the band's stage performances. While The Lee Kings were significant within the Swedish music scene, this specific record is now largely sought after by collectors of 1960s garage rock and international beat music. Its design and sound are representative of the trans-Atlantic influence on European musicians who sought to integrate American soul and British pop sensibilities into their own national identity.
