Il Capitan Della Compagnia / Oh, Ce Biell Cis Ciel

Released in 1967 on the Italian label Fonola, this record features Coro Icam performing 'Il Capitan Della Compagnia' backed with 'Oh, Ce Biell Cis Ciel.' These tracks fall under the umbrella of Italian folk and choral music, a genre that Fonola frequently documented to preserve regional musical traditions during the post-war era. Such recordings were often produced for local distribution, capturing choral arrangements that served as a cultural touchstone for regional identity.

The design and production of this 45 RPM disc reflect the standard utilitarian aesthetic of independent Italian labels of the late 1960s. Coro Icam, known for their focus on choral harmony, aimed to bridge the gap between traditional mountain or folk song heritage and the growing accessibility of recorded music. While not a chart-topping commercial success, the release remains a significant historical artifact for collectors interested in the regional choral movements that flourished in Italy throughout the mid-20th century.
