Where it came from
Released in 1992 on the Valid United Music Publishers label, Introducing Vic Val-I-Dum's Show Band serves as a niche artifact of independent early-nineties brass and show-band fusion. The record reflects the era's DIY approach to self-publishing, capturing a performance style that sought to bridge the gap between traditional big-band arrangements and the developing sensibilities of local independent recording artists.
The album's design and production were driven by the collective's desire to preserve their stage presence in a recorded format. As a localized project, it saw limited distribution beyond the immediate circuit of the band's performances, resulting in its status as a sought-after rarity among collectors of independent 1990s jazz and performance ensemble recordings.
