It Is Love / You Live Your Life I'll Live Mine

Released on the Little Darlin' label in the mid-1960s, this single highlights the niche country-soul aesthetic cultivated by producer Aubrey Mayhew. The label gained a reputation for its idiosyncratic sound, often bridging the gap between traditional country western and emerging pop sensibilities. John Whitehawk, a less-documented artist from this era, exemplifies the label's commitment to finding unique vocalists who could blend storytelling with the upbeat production styles prevalent in Nashville studios during that decade.

The record design follows the standard promotional aesthetic for the label, characterized by simple, utilitarian typefaces and functional layout intended for jukebox play and radio promotion. While little historical documentation exists regarding the specific creative team behind the cover art or the promotional campaign for this release, the record remains a piece of the mid-century 45 rpm culture, reflecting the independent spirit of labels that operated outside the major publishing houses.
