Itzalak, Argiak

Itzalak, Argiak was released in 2022 by the Basque experimental project Lamiak through the independent label Gran Sol. The album emerged from a contemporary movement within the Basque musical landscape that seeks to blend traditional folk sensibilities with modern ambient, electronic, and post-rock textures. It represents a introspective exploration of the dualities implied by its title, which translates from Basque as Shadows, Lights, focusing on atmospheric soundscapes that reflect the rugged and often melancholic terrain of the region.

The design of the release mirrors its sonic intentions, utilizing minimalist aesthetics to ground the listener in the project's conceptual focus on light and shadow. Lamiak, acting as both the primary creative force and visionary behind the project, aimed to create a physical object that serves as a meditative companion to the music. The reception within the niche experimental music community has been characterized by appreciation for the project's cohesive identity and its contribution to the evolving experimental scene in Northern Spain.
