Where it came from
Released on the Disc' O Rouet label in the late 1970s, this 45 RPM single represents the folk revival movement in Brittany, France. The record captures traditional regional dance music, specifically featuring the song 'Le Loup, Le Renard Et La Belette,' a well-known folk tune that was frequently reinterpreted by local artists during this period to preserve cultural heritage.
The production sought to provide authentic recordings for the popular fest-noz gatherings, which experienced a surge in interest during the 1970s. Loïc Valdor’s arrangement focuses on the driving, repetitive rhythms essential for traditional Breton dance, reflecting a minimalist design aesthetic typical of small, independent regional labels of the era that prioritized function and cultural documentation over elaborate studio packaging.
